I am completely baffled when people tell me they never watched Parenthood in its original run. I’m here to tell you that this critically acclaimed family drama remains one of the best written and well-acted series produced in the last decade. There is very little currently on network television that compares to the incredible Braverman family.

Parenthood is making its debut on UPtv this Monday, May 30th at 8pm/ET and we’re sharing the Ultimate Guide to Rewatching the series.

The Best Television Family

A few years ago, a family friend graciously invited me to the set of Parenthood. In its sixth and final season, I was lucky enough to visit the sound stage that was home Zeek and Camille’s family compound. I sat behind producer Lawrence Trilling as he directed scenes with the incredible Bonnie Bedelia, Craig T. Nelson, Peter Krause, Dax Sheppard and Erika Christensen. It was a magical afternoon.

In the later seasons of the series, I personally connected with one particular storyline. Don’t worry, I won’t spoil anything for those who haven’t seen the show. But, it’s the complexities of the characters that draw you into this series. Heartwarming, tragic, real life storytelling. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

The Most Incredible Soundtrack Ever

You’ll soon find yourself signing the catchy Bob Dylan tune at the opening of each episode but definitely take note of the incredible music sprinkled throughout each episode. The show introduced me to musicians like Ray Lamontagne, Mat Kearney, The Civil Wars, and Wilco. Breaking Down Braverman

It’s no secret that Megan and I live for a great podcast. These days there is a podcast for almost every show ever made in the history of modern television. Gilmore Guys brilliantly breaks down and discusses each episode of another fantastic series currently airing on UPtv — a little known show called Gilmore Girls (also featuring the incomparable Lauren Graham).

There is one Parenthood podcast and it unfortunately only covers the last two seasons of the series. We’re thinking this is a perfect opportunity for someone to jump on creating a new Parenthood podcast that dissects every episode from all six seasons. Maybe it should be us?!
