Did you know that February 4th is National Thank Your Mailman Day in the United States? We’ve created a sweet little Thank Your Mail Carrier Day printable to show your gratitude to the people who deliver your mail 52 weeks out of the year! This post has been updated for 2021.
You might be aware of the struggles the USPS endured during 2020. There was a huge call to action on social media to help save the United States Postal Service during the summer months of 2020. This included buying stamps and USPS merchandise!
If you haven’t seen the USPS merch yet, you can see it here.
In addition, 2020 was an extraordinary year for mail deliveries. With the 2020 election and its historic number of mail-in ballots plus the crushing amount of online shopping, the 644,000 employees of the USPS have been working overtime.
I know I often see my mail person delivering mail well into the evening hours, after dark, wearing a headlamp to see addresses and mail slots.
The very least I can do is say thank you.
How Do You Thank a Mailman?
We’re old pros at thanking our delivery drivers around her. Our holiday delivery driver printable is our most popular post during the Christmas season.
Similar to treating your delivery driver with snacks and drinks, we think putting together a very small consumable gift is a great idea to recognize your mail carrier for their hard work.
A small gift bag with your favorite healthy snacks like granola bars, trail mix and cookies would make for a very thoughtful treat. If your mailman delivers mail to your doorstep, you can leave this out for him/her with our thank you printable attached.
On-the-go snacks is a great way to thank your mail person.
Maybe your mailman delivers to a bank of mailboxes and not your doorstep. Consider a generous size bag of candies or a king-size candy bar with our note attached and left inside your mailbox. Be sure to put the flag up to alert him/her of a pick up!
Should You Tip Your Mail Carrier?
Apparently, mail carriers are not allowed to accept cash gifts. If you would like to honor your mail carrier, the U.S. Postal Service asks that your gratuity not exceed $20 in cash value.
Mailman Appreciation Day Gifts
A gift card for coffee, a local pizza spot, or a food delivery service are a few extraordinary easy ideas if you’re feeling super generous.
A few other gift ideas to show your appreciation could include a bouquet of flowers, a personalized, reusable water bottle, a beautiful candle, hand lotion, travel size hand sanitizer, fuzzy socks, a puzzle, an assortment of teas, or coffee beans. They options are endless.
