It seems that when it comes to entertainment, I’m often seeking out content that will be a distraction. And while I love a good documentary and the occasional true crime, mostly I want my television to feel soothing. I’m always looking for new shows to add to this category, so let me share three new shows to watch if you’re stressed.

The Sex Lives of College Girls
Where to Watch – Stream on HBO Max
Why We Love It: Yes, it has a certain spice level – it’s not a Hallmark movie. However, this show isn’t gratuitous. It’s really about four college suitemates and their first semester of college. It makes me want to hop into a Hot Tub Time Machine and go straight back to school. It’s funny, it’s smart, it tackles issues facing young women. You root for these women, their friendships and their successes. At the end of season one you’ll be genuinely worried about the future of one of the girls, but not in a way that will stress you out, we promise.
Is The Sex Lives of College Girls coming back for season two?
This show has already been renewed for a season 2, so don’t worry that you’ll get invested in a show that will never be seen again.
Trigger Warning: There’s discussion and depiction of sexual assault in this show. It’s not graphic, but it’s worth noting if you would prefer to avoid that.
Emily in Paris
Where to Watch – Stream Emily in Paris on Netflix
Emily in Paris was polarizing when season one was released in 2020. We’ll be the first to admit that it was not sophisticated television, and that’s why we love it. Well, that’s why *I* love it. Wendy couldn’t be compelled to finish the season.
Emily in Paris is candy. Absolutely no substance, but delightful while you’re consuming it. The fashion is fantastic and the drama is mild. Season two showed a lot of growth in some of the characters (and absolutely none in others – we’re looking at you Gabriel.)
The real delight of season two is Ashley Park as Mindy who joins a band and sings throughout the city. There’s a scene where she and one of her bandmates sing Falling Slowly from Once – one of my favorite songs – and I gasped out loud. Yes, that’s really her singing!
Is Emily in Paris Returning for Another Season?
YES! Emily in Paris has been greenlit for seasons three AND four!
Queer Eye
Where to Watch: Stream seasons 1-6 of Queer Eye on Netflix
Why We Love It: We discussed the latest season of Queer Eye on a recent episode of the podcast. Did you know we’re already six seasons deep on Queer Eye? I’m not sure why I’ve been sleeping on this show, because in spite of loving the first two seasons, I haven’t seen an episode in years.
I am so glad the boys are back because this show is just pure love. Sure, you might cry, but in the best, restore your belief in humans sort of way. We’ve all had a rough couple of years and we could probably use a good cry anyway. At one point in the first episode of season six, someone says to the men, “Thank you for meeting her where she was,” and damn if I didn’t just fall apart. Could we ask for anything more?
Is Queer Eye Returning for Another Season?
Netflix hasn’t renewed Queer Eye for Season 7 yet, but it’s a hit for the network. Shout it from the rooftops if you want them back!
