For all of my talk of meal planning and the efficiency of grocery pickup, all of that flies out the window during the summer. Our schedule is so fluid with every single member of my household on summer break, that we just take things as they come. We keep a refrigerator full of things to grill and grab something each night. Admittedly, we also eat a lot of cereal for dinner when it’s too hot to imagine eating anything else. (Also, when we’re all too lazy to cook anything else.)
Now that everyone is back in school, and the reality of rushed evenings are hitting us hard, I’m reminded of why I desperately need a meal plan to keep you on track. For my sake and yours, I’ve created this meal plan for the month of September. You’ll notice that I’ve only included four dinners per week. For our family, I find that’s about how many full dinners I need to plan for and I fill in the rest of the days with leftovers, a pantry meal, and yes, cereal.
I’ve also included something you can make and freeze for breakfast for each week (and the coming weeks.) Doing this has already saved us on busy mornings.
