Today we’re excited to share this exclusive self care plan printable for you to create your very own action plan designed to improve your well being! Plus, it can be a little fun if you want it to. This post has been updated for 2022.
Without giving too much away – because we would love for you to listen to it, Megan and I talked openly during episode two of our podcast about self care.
Why is a Self-Care Plan Important?
Self care is important because “we are more resilient and more able to handle life’s stress when we are feeling our best both physically and emotionally.” (source) A self-care plan works to prepare one for stressors and triggers. Without an action plan you might end up overwhelmed, burned out or even sick.
A self-care plan isn’t just needed during an election cycle. Having an action plan to combat any stressful situation is a good idea. Self care plans for the holidays, planning a wedding, preparing for a move, looking for a new job, during a global pandemic are all good times to have one.
Free Self-Care Printable
We’ve updated this post to include this free self-care template. Similar to our original Election Day version but free from the “election day” stuff.
If you’d rather share your plan on social media, screenshot the image below and fill out using text or GIFS and post on Instagram.

Self-Care Plan for Election Day
We originally crafted these self-care plans in preparation for the 2020 Presidential election. Those were stressful days and we were filled with anxiety.

Four Categories of Self Care
Self-care can be broken into four categories: emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual. Read this article from the Crisis and Trauma Resource Institute to see examples of what self care looks like within each of those elements.
Is a Pedicure Self-Care?
Yes, pedicures can be considered a form of self care. Taking time for yourself is an important component to self-care and what you do with that time is your choice. But, self care is more about substance. It’s about laying a solid foundation to handle triggers and stress, ultimately leading to your overall well-being and health.
This is a great article by Katie Bingham-Smith that explains why women need more than trips to the salon.
We also created a similar self-care template for Instagram! Click and save the photo below, fill out and upload to your Instagram stories! Or, head over to our Instagram and grab a screenshot. Be sure to tag us and three friends so we can support each other in our self-care journeys.
Wishing everyone smooth sailing.
