Earlier this month we took a road trip to Las Vegas and picked up a few bottles of craft root beer at Alien Fresh Jerky in Baker, California. Because when in Baker, you take a picture of the World’s Tallest Thermometer and visit Alien Fresh Jerky for dried meats and something to drink.
We were told by fellow road tripper – Jeff Bogle of owtk.com – that the market carried a bunch of hard-to-find craft sodas from across the United States. We’re always game for a good taste test so we chose three different root beer brands: Faygo, Chicago and Cicero.
I learned two things from this root beer taste test. 1. root beer is really spicy and 2. Megan really doesn’t like root beer. Watching her in this video tells me this taste test might have been worse for her than the Swedish Fish Oreos.
There’s a little restaurant in my neighborhood that has a great collection of bottled soft drinks. They have quite a few root beer varieties. We’ve tried so many of them and the key to really great root beer some made with pure cane sugar. Those are by far the best!
