Have you ever set out with your family on a fun-fill day of rides and attractions at your local theme park but it inevitably comes apart at the seams because someone is hungry, tired or unhappy? I’ve definitely been part of this family and it can put a real damper on what is supposed to be a treat. Today, I am going to share some of my favorite ways on how to slay your day at LEGOLAND California Resort.
LEGOLAND is one of my favorite places to visit. We’ve been going there since my daughter was very young. I have vivid memories of cradling a sleeping baby near Miniland USA. Or the time she and friends rode the LEGOLAND Express train a million times over. And I’ll never forget her walking hand in hand with a new friend through Fun Town. LEGOLAND is such a special place for our family because we’ve shared some awesome times there.
How to Slay Your Day at LEGOLAND CALIFORNIA RESORT
Do yourself a favor and download the LEGOLAND California Resort mobile app. You’ll find the app offers an interactive map with ride wait times, entertainment guide, and dining and retail offers. Bring a portable phone charger to keep your phone going strong all day. If you forget, LEGOLAND has two secure charging lockers where you can charge your phones up to 2 hours for $3.
If your budget allows, consider purchasing a Reserve’N’Ride. This is a hand held electronic device where you can make a reservation for 15 attractions throughout the resort reducing your wait time anywhere from 25%-90%. There is nothing sweeter than bypassing the line onto the resort’s most popular rides and attractions.
Speaking of popular rides and attractions, hit them first. I would suggest LEGO Ninjago World as soon as you get through the front gates. LEGO Ninjago The Ride is a very popular attraction so get in line early before the resort attendance starts to boom. While you’re there, check out the brand new LEGO Ninjago Master of the 4th Dimension. Families can join the Ninjago heroes for a special, interactive dojo training session. Prepare to harness the power of the elements in this amazing 4D experience.
When Roller Coasters Aren’t Your Thing
Our next stop is Imagination Zone where my husband and daughter ride the Aquazone Wave Racers and the LEGO Technic Coaster. These rides are not for me so I usually make my way back toward the front gates to visit The Market for a gourmet coffee and people watching.
Planning a trip to the grocery store for lunch time drinks?
Check out this great offer when you buy Honest Kids Juice.

Did you know you can trade your LEGO Minifigures to trade with employees throughout the Resort? If you see an employee wearing a Minifigure on their name badge, ask to trade. You can also visit King’s Treasure in Castle Hill to trade. We also think Castle Hill is a great spot for lunch. Knights’ Smokehouse BBQ is delicious with plenty of outside seating and definitely grab some apple fries from Granny’s Apple Fries on the walkway toward the LEGO Star Wars gallery. The Star Wars area is one of my favorite parts and a treat for any fan. Make sure your camera phones are charged for this spot of the resort.
Shopping and Downtime
I’m hoping your families are still going strong because there is so much more to see and do. Driving School is a blast for kids, I love Brick Brothers Trading Company for shopping, and the LEGO Factory Tour for a little downtime are all found in Fun Town. Carve out time to rock out in LEGO Friends Heartlake City! Some of Heartlake’s favorite friends put on a great show at the Friends Forever Stage. My daughter hides behind me every time we watch but I know she secretly wants to jump on stage with the girls.
The LEGOLAND and CHIMA water parks are a one-of-a-kind experience within the resort. Opening for the season in March, guests can upgrade their tickets for only $30 and take advantage of the resort’s ten million gallons of fun. Both water parks offer something for everyone, including your littlest ones in the Splash Zone or with the whole family on Pirate’s Reef. Cabanas rentals are available and dryers are aplenty throughout the areas. Opening this summer, Surfer’s Cove will feature two brand new attractions including a race against the clock on Riptide Racers and Wipeout Lagoon.
Turn Your Day Into a Stay
Will you slay the day or will the day slay you? If it’s the latter, your best bet is turning your day into a stay at one of the two hotels located on the LEGOLAND property. LEGOLAND Resort Hotel features themed rooms, nightly entertainment, and early entry to the resort. The brand new LEGOLAND Castle Hotel opens this spring, also featuring castle themed rooms, pool area and an outdoor movie screen. After a little R&R, consider visiting the SEA LIFE Aquarium to check out the new bioluminescence display.
