Summer is coming. Are you starting to look for new swimwear? Both Megan and I are on the hunt for new bathing suits and have searched the internet high and low for the perfect one-piece swimsuits this season. This post has been updated for 2022.
In this week’s podcast episode, Megan called me out for telling her a particular bathing suit was not for her. A swim dress isn’t for anyone, y’all. Listen to the episode here.
Shopping Online for Bathing Suits
We threw the net out far and wide in search of a new swimsuit that could be worn in a backyard pool, on a summer vacation, and to the beach. The two things Megan and I have in common when shopping for bathing suits are that they must be supportive and they should be a one-piece suit. There is no triangle bikini happening here, friends.
We decided to shop exclusively online this year. This also eliminates that walk of shame from the dressing room when it just doesn’t work out.
Best Target Swimsuits for Women
Target.com has a great selection of swimsuits online including brands like Kona Sol, Shade & Shore and Aqua Green. Here are a few standouts this year, including Megan’s all-time favorite laser cut halter bathing suit ($35).

Amazon Swimsuits for Women Over 40
Amazon has a great selection of swimsuits. Instagram and Facebook might serve you Cupshe ads and that brand is also available on Amazon which makes ordering easy.
Megan recently ordered the black and white Cupshe one-piece swimsuit but sent it back because the white parts of the suit were too sheer. Good thing Amazon sells the exact style in tons of different color combinations, so order a few and see what works.

LandsEnd One-Piece Swimsuits
For years I ignored checking out LandsEnd for swimsuits because I thought the brand was too matronly. I’m so glad I took a chance on their bathing suits because they are incredible quality. Lands End swim can be expensive but often goes on sale and always look for a coupon code.
I purchased the black and white mixed dot and love it so much. Looks just as good as the one I bought last summer. Quality investment!
Where are you shopping for swimsuits this season? Don’t wait too long to start shopping or your favorite stores will have moved on to fall sweaters.

I use figleaves.com for my bra and swimwear shopping, because you can buy a suit using your bra size, and there is no store i’ve ever found that offers 32G swimwear (or even bras). I love it, I need to find a new one this year because I’ve worn out the last two. It’s a swimsuit with a bra in most cases, with a back strap/clasp and everything, so nicely supportive and properly sized. I got on the bra evangelism bandwagon a few years ago from a Reddit about A Bra That Fits which totally opened my eyes to my actual bra size and it made such a huge difference. That is not at all the comment I thought I was making…I’ll stop now. Ha! Have a great day ladies!
Thanks for all the great info! I’ll have to definitely check out fig leaves.com!!
I’m currently a rashguard+bikini top+swim shorts person. Last summer I found women’s swim shorts marked down to $3 a pair at Sam’s, so I grabbed 3-4 different colors. Rashguard came from Old Navy, and the underwire bra-sizes bikini top came from Target…Sun&Sand? Sand&Shore? Something like that.
When I did actual swimsuits, I was also super-anti-halter, because OUCH.
I swear the best advice is to buy multiples of something when you find it!!
