Every once in a while I come across a piece of clothing and want to own it in a million colors, I do it with my favorite flip flops, I do it with my favorite earrings, and for the last year I’ve been collecting Old Navy Boyfriend Tees. It started simply with one charcoal gray shirt that I brought home and promptly fell in love with. Then I grabbed another two when I saw them on sale. Then, during an online buying binge I saw that several other colors were on major sale. Then? This year they came out with a v-neck style, which is how I came to own ten of these shirts and I’m not even sorry. I wear them all the time and I didn’t pay more than $10 for a single one.
Perhaps their number one selling point? After owning several of these shirts for a year, not one has developed one of those annoying tiny holes near my jeans button that almost every other t-shirt I’ve ever loved has developed. Glory hallelujah.
The key is to buy the shirt that’s labeled linen blend. Old Navy has a similar cut, similar named shirt in just cotton and I haven’t tried it on, but I’m sure it’s not as good. The linen blend has a nice weight to it, it hangs nicely and I just love it, although a couple of them are a tad sheer, they’re not deal breakers for me. These shirts run big. I got between a medium and a large at Old Navy and I can easily wear a medium with plenty of room to spare.
Interestingly enough, the outfit above is full of my favorite things. I wear all of those things all the time and I feel great in them. I recently read that boyfriend jeans are on their way out, and while you can take away my skinny jeans you will pry my boyfriends from my cold, dead hands. Wear what you love, folks. Life’s too short for anything less.
Do you buy multiples of things you love to wear? What sorts of clothing collections do you have?
