A visit to the Glossier showroom topped our list of must-visit places when we were in New York in September for Megan’s birthday. We had spent a good part of the day taking in the city sights and now we were ready for a little bit of retail therapy. If you aren’t familiar with Glossier, it’s a no-fuss beauty brand aimed at the millennial generation (ha! they let us in the showroom anyway!). We spent a good hour in the penthouse suite on Lafayette playing around with lip balms and cloud paint.
I will admit I was pretty intimidated visiting the Glossier showroom. We had a Lyft drop us off at a very nondescript office building but we knew we were at the right place because there was a sandwich board sign that said so. Glossier is really dialed in to this no-fuss branding, right down to their signage. A friendly Glossier employee told us to take the elevator to the penthouse. I honestly felt like I was living my worst Andrea Sachs-pre-Runway-makeover life as I stepped off of the elevator and into the showroom.
All jokes aside, Glossier is anything but intimidating. But, I had just ran around the city all day eating Shake Shack and cookie dough and getting caught in a down pour with a broken surge-priced umbrella. I certainly wasn’t feeling as fresh faced as the girls working the Glossier sales floor. However, we did have fun swatching the products. We weren’t quite sure at first if we were allowed to touch and try it all like we would at a Sephora or Ulta, but we were and we both ended up purchasing several things to take home.
