Happy April everyone! It’s time for the fourth installment of our One True Love series! We’ve talked about the jeans we live in, the candles we can’t stop burning, and our favorite loungewear. For April we’re taking a look at our favorite beauty tools. I chose something that was makeup related and Wendy went with her favorite hair styling tool. For some reason, I was totally thrown for a loop when Wendy chose a non-makeup item and honestly I’m pretty happy that we went in different directions.
I could choose ten different “favorites” on any given day. I love my Clarisonic, I love my little face razors, I love many of the things I own – hence the reason I continue to use them. Our monthly favorites are often filled with our recent finds and long-time loves so make sure to check those out.
Megan’s One True Love
I went for my favorite tools for applying foundation for this month’s prompt. While I hesitate to say that anything is a must-have – you can certainly apply foundation with just your fingers – I love the finish that I get from using both a beauty blender (and other makeup sponges – more on that in a minute) and an oval face brush. I get a different finish with each tool, and I prefer certain foundations with particular applications, so I like to have both in my makeup bag.
Both of these items have saturated the market lately. The Beauty Blender is the OG, but a walk through any drugstore beauty aisle will show you that every brand is developing their own sponges. Some of these are downright duds, but others are great! I’ve recently tried the EcoTools version, which is half the price for two sizes of sponges and I love it. The shape is a little bit different and I might like it even better than the Beauty Blender. I definitely like the price and the fact that I can find EcoTools in Target. All of that to say that I really like using a blending sponge for applying foundation. As for the oval face brush – they’re everywhere! I think they’re all pretty comparable, although I’m not a fan of the other sizes for things like contour and concealer.
Wendy’s One True (Lost) Love
You know that one thing we all own that is so old that the brand name is completely worn off, but we just can’t let it go because it’s the best and we haven’t found a replacement? That’s the case with Wendy’s favorite brush. She has been searching for a replacement brush but hasn’t found an exact match yet. Andrea recommended a Spornette, so that’s next on Wendy’s list of brushes to try. ( I think it looks like a good match!)
