Last week we had a chance to attend a media preview of the food offerings available at the Knott’s Berry Farm Boysenberry Festival and we did our best to try just about everything available at the event. You can thank us later.
The Boysenberry Festival runs from April 1-23 and is exactly what it sounds like – a celebration of all things boysenberry and a celebration of the roots of Knott’s Berry Farm. Access to the Boysenberry Festival is included with your theme park admission and includes savory items, drinks and of course, desserts – all with a boysenberry twist.
Our personal favorites were the Fun Bun, a deep fried cinnamon roll with boysenberry filling, boysenberry flautas, and the Walter Knott – a drink combining boysenberry punch with iced tea – think Arnold Palmer with a boysenberry flair. The boysenberry pizza, boysenberry meatballs, and boysenberry short ribs all get an honorable mention.
Megan even tried the fried alligator with a boysenberry aioli and declared that it tasted like chicken.
While we’re most excited about the food offerings, there are a number of other live entertainment events planned to celebrate the berry that started it all. My kids are big fans of all things Peanuts and are looking forward to Snoopy’s Boysenberry Jamboree – a new show just for the festival. Personally, I’m just hoping I can talk someone into participating in the pie eating contest for the laughs alone.
