Girls Gone Hallmark has a new home!
We used to be a bonus episode under the Long Story Short with Megan and Wendy banner. Now, Girls Gone Hallmark is its very own podcast! We would love it if you would follow us over there and leave a review! New episodes drop weekly!
Who is Julie Sherman Wolfe?
Julie Sherman Wolfe is an award winning screenwriter who spent 25 years in Los Angeles writing for sitcoms like Everybody Loves Raymond and full-length feature films for Disney and Paramount. She won a Writers Guild Award for her 2010 Avalon High script.
She is a prolific Hallmark Channel Movie writer including fan favorites like Birthday Wish and Wedding Every Weekend. Julie’s recent work includes our favorite movie from the 2021 New Year, New Movies line up Taking a Shot at Love.
Julie currently lives with her husband and son in Avon, Connecticut. Fun fact: Avon, CT is the town featured in Taking a Shot at Love where Jenna (Alexa PenaVega) lives and helps Ryan (Luke Macfarlane) rehab his hockey injury.
Her focus when writing any script is its voice. Specifically, the banter and tone of the dialogue and that is what really made Taking a Shot at Love our favorite of the New Year, New Movies bunch.

Are There Any Easter Eggs in Taking a Shot at Love?
Yes, there is an Easter egg in Taking a Shot at Love. Julie explained she named Avon’s winter festivities “Winterfest” as a nod to the Hallmark Channel’s brand of new winter movies. PLOT TWIST: Hallmark Channel refreshed their “Winterfest” lineup in 2021 to “New Year, New Movies.”
