We love a fun taste test, so we were thrilled to receive a care package from our friends Josh and Lauren from SkewToob. They picked up a bunch of candy at a Japanese candy store in Chicago and sent it our way. You know what that means! Time for a Japanese Candy Taste Test!
Japanese Candy Taste Test
We were relieved to receive one candy we were familiar with, Hi-Chew. We also recognized KitKat, although in flavors we had never tried. (Maybe we just leave KitKat alone and not mess with a good thing? Maybe?) Everything else was new to us.
You can see our reactions to each of the candies in the video. Sadly, our camera stopped recording and missed the very best part – where we tasted a durian flavored candy, which was truly terrible. So terrible that when we searched to find out more, we found it high on a list of the top ten most disgusting candies. We couldn’t agree more.
Once upon a time we said we would slow down on the taste test videos. Thirty-three taste tests later, we’re pretty sure that’s never going to happen. We even have a handy dandy Taste Test Playlist, in case you missed one or two.
Where to Buy Japanese Candy
My local grocery store carries a variety of international candies, so definitely check in your own stores! We’ve also found a ton of options online.

Fast Food Cookie Showdown
Yes, we drove through our local fast food restaurants at 7:30 am just so we could have cookies for this taste test. It was rough work, but someone has to do it.
Ben & Jerry's Dairy Free Ice Cream Taste Test
Ben and Jerry's was one of the first big names to cross over into the dairy free space. How did they do?
