What is a VIPKID Reward System?
VIPKID encourages positive reinforcement in the classroom. One way to do this is through the virtual stars built into the online classroom. Every student should receive five stars during their lesson as these can be exchanged for prizes. In addition, VIPKID encourages a secondary reward system beyond the stars. The great thing about secondary rewards is that you can change them with the seasons and to suit your students’ interests.
Reward systems are great, particularly for students in Level 1 and 2 because it helps to build rapport, encourage students and keep them excited and engaged in the classroom. There is no need to spend a lot of money on reward systems. There are plenty of free printable VIPKID reward systems to be found! While I have purchased a few items from the Target Dollar Spot, my first reward system was something I printed for free and I still use it regularly!
I highly recommend laminating each of these sheets and the individual items to help them last longer. I love my laminator! To attach the items to the background you can use poster tack or mini magnets. I find that the magnets are best attached with packing tap. To get the magnets to stick to the background put the background on a magnetic whiteboard or even a cookie sheet!
I’ve also created a list of what every new VIPKID teacher needs to have.
