It’s laughable that I am the one writing a post about fall nail trends! My bare nails are in bad shape and in desperate need of some TLC. Like, we are beyond a fabulous nail technician to make things better. I need a freaking magician.
And ooh, there are so many pretty fall nail trends to love. Two-tone manicures, nail art, dip powdered nails, gel stickers, and so much more.
What’s On Trend for Fall Nails?
My teen daughter knows what’s up when it comes to the nail trends. She has very pretty, naturally long nails but sadly she’s inherited her mother’s terrible skills when it comes to applying nail polish.
I let her get her first dip powder nails this summer and before I knew it, she was ordering up a combination of dip powder with a gel nail art design for each finger.
Friends, this ain’t cheap. I let her know that this was summer fun and if she wants to continue with these fun nails she will have to opt for the DIY at-home dip powder process Megan has raved about in the past.

Nail Shape Trends
We’re really holding onto the coffin shaped nails, aren’t we? Glamour says that coffin and ballerina shaped nails are sure to “make a statement.” You do you, Kylie Jenner. This gal is sticking to her short squoval shaped nails. Now, go on and let grandma watch a rerun of Golden Girls.
Fall Nail Art Designs
I stopped mid doom scroll when I saw the two-tone, black and clear nails in my Instagram feed from @firstcomeslatte. I absolutely love them and think they are perfect for fall. Keep scrolling and you’ll see that I’m obsessed with every nail art design from @paintboxnails.
Nail art is wild right now and it can get really expensive because you’re literally asking the manicurist to create art on your nails. So what are some alternatives?
Nail Stickers, Nail Wraps Fall Looks
Remember when I mentioned that my polish game was lacking? Nail stickers and nail wraps are the perfect alternative for those who are nail polish challenged and an alternative to the pricey nail art from the salon.
Everywhere from Ulta, Amazon and Walmart sells nail wraps but I’m particularly drawn to these fall-inspired nail stickers I found on Etsy. The problem I personally might run into is that I have wide thumb nails but these are affordable enough to order and see if they work for me.
What About Press On Nails?
I’m zero percent bold when it comes to using a press on nail. But Megan loves them! They’re a quick way to pretty nails!
Nail Polish Colors
Keeping things simple with a swipe of nail color is always a go-to. Of course, not for me, because I’ve explained twice now that I need professional help.
What’s are some trending nail colors this season?
- This Olive and June Pumpkin Spice Latte set sure ends up in my feed a lot. I do love it.
- Deep reds like this one from O.P.I or this one from Essie – both affordable!
- Nudes like this trio from Essie.
- Greens in various shades: I like this one from O.P.I
- Dark, moody blue shades: I love this dark ice blue from O.P.I
- Milky chocolate browns like this one from Nails Inc., or O.P.I and Essie Expressie.
- Mattes and glosses mixed on the same hand! Grab this matte topper from Pacifica.
What are you feeling for fall nails? Do you like any of these trends enough to try yourself? I am really considering the nail wraps and the two-tone black finish.
