Years ago, I made this list of desert island books – the books I would want to have with me if I found myself stranded. It was a nearly impossible choice, choosing just three books. That being said, looking back on this list eight years ago, it still holds up. These are books that I find comforting and enjoy rereading. My copies of each of these books are well-worn!
Desert Island Books -Comfort Books to ReRead
So, I’m not going to go so far as to say that these are my favorite books, but rather books that I enjoy that stand up to multiple rereadings. These are the books that I turn to when I want to read something, but I don’t want to start something new. Often these are books I turn to late at night when I can’t sleep and just want something comforting where I already know what to expect.
If i were to find myself on a deserted island, obviously my first choice would be to have my Kindle with unlimited battery life and continued access to Libby to download books. But in the absence of that, I’ll go with the following books that I can read over and over.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
I am no fan of J.K. Rowling these days, but I own these books and feel like I can continue to enjoy the stories without supporting her vile views.
Since I think it would be cheating to bring the entire Harry Potter series along with me, I’m choosing one of my favorites. I didn’t start reading Harry Potter until the first four books were published, and then every time a new book was published I would reread the series before reading the next book. I love everything about this book, what it means for Harry at this point in the series, the introduction of Sirius, Hogsmeade, the Patronus.
The Devil Wears Prada
I just adore this book. It’s the perfect book to open in the middle of a sleepless night, or at the end of a stressful day. Much like a bedtime episode of Friends, this book hits all the right notes for me. (The sequel is dreadful and not worth your time. Consider yourself warned.)
Fangirl
I got an advanced copy of this book and still consider that one of the happiest accidents of my life. I love this book, I love Cather and Levi and this is going to sound insane, but it just speaks to me. (Cath and Levi have a cameo in Landline and that is one of the most satisfying parts of that book for me.) I both desperately want them to make this into a movie and am terrified that they’ll somehow ruin it.

Stopping by from the link up! I absolutely LOVE the Harry Potter series too. She is an incredible writer. My oldest daughter has started reading the series and it is so fun to read along with her! I can’t believe I haven’t read The Devil Wears Prada! I loved the movie, so I’m sure the book is even better! I’ve never heard of Fangirl before but it sounds like one I should check out! Hope you have a great day!

My favorite HP book was Half Blood Prince but I love them all. And Devil Wears Prada was a great book and movie too!
