If ever I talk about favorite items of clothing you can be that that word comfortable is involved in my description. I don’t care how great something looks, if it isn’t comfortable to wear it doesn’t get worn. Never is that more true that spring and summer when the weather heats up and I don’t want any clothes touching my skin. I wear jeans for months on end and then it hits 80 and I put them away until November.
In the past several years I’ve gotten more comfortable in my own skin and I’m more willing to wear shorts, which makes me sad for all of those lost years when my legs weren’t 36 years old. If only I could go back to 18 year old me and tell her that these are the days.
But, even though I buy and wear shorts, I prefer pants pretty much always. The more they feel like pajamas, the more I like them and wear them. I come by it honestly – my mom is the ultimate comfort dresser. Her legendary collection of matching jogging suits has caused all such outfits to be known as “Kathy’s” around here.
I have begun to amass my own little collection of soft pants and I’m always looking to add to my stash of comfortable pants for summer.
Old Navy Linen Pants – First of all these are LONG. I’m 5’6″ and I bought these and they definitely need to be hemmed, but the price is right, they fit well and they’re super soft – even better than last year’s linen pants.
Sun and Shadow Pants – The image here makes these look much more structured than they are. Make no mistake, that’s an elastic waistband and the print on these is fun.
Lands’ End Soft Pants – Lands’ End goes right ahead and calls a spade a spade. These come recommended by a Twitter friend and they’re seriously on sale right now.
Gap Summer Print Joggers – I would need to see these in person, as the tapered ankle could go either way, but these come in three fun prints.
And now I admit my new obsession. Yesterday my first pair of Lularoe leggings arrived. After swearing I wouldn’t give in to the latest crazy, I broke down when I was able to get the pair I had been eyeing from a friend. They arrived and yes they are every bit as soft and wonderful as everyone swears they are. The thing is that these are strictly house pants for me. I love them, I’ll wear them, but only at home. However, they totally meet the above requirement of soft pants, so if these pants are your thing, get yourself into one of a million Facebook parties and find your crazypants.
Tell us, does comfort trump style in your life? Personally, I like a healthy balance of both, but comfort rules all!
