My brother-in-law and his wife moved into a new home this year and their Christmas wish list was simply “kitchen stuff.” Unfortunately, they didn’t really elaborate on this request. Fortunately for me (and you!) there are a million items that fit the bill at all different price points. We put together this gift guide for the home chef in your life in case you’re looking for the perfect gift for the person who is most at home in the kitchen.

Cookbooks Everyone Can Learn From
Who needs cookbooks when there is Pinterest, right? Wrong. Pinterest is full of recipes that have been untested. Sure, there are some good home-cooking accounts to follow there but cookbooks will always be welcomed in any kitchen.
Hack Your Cupboard – This is the cookbook we all need! If you’ve ever looked at your pantry and thought – “Huh, what can I make with a can of black beans and a bay leaf?” this is the cookbook for you!
The Complete America’s Test Kitchen TV Show Cookbook – released its 20th anniversary cookbook with 21 years of foolproof recipes in one volume.
My Family Cookbook – might be the sweetest gift to give new couples or new families. This is a blank cookbook waiting to be filled with family recipes, notes and photos. This is going on my list this year!
Home Chef Kitchen Gifts
OXO Good Grips Cookie Scoop – I have these in several sizes, and I use them for scooping cookies of course, but also for getting the exact same amount of muffin mix for each muffin.
Giant Cutting Board – I used to be an avid 30 Minute Meals watcher and coveted Rachel Ray’s giant cutting board for years. Now that I have one of my own, I love the thing.
Of course you could also get personal and purchase a custom cutting board that’s meant more for show like one of these state cutting boards or this best-selling personalized cutting board. You can find tons of personalized options all over Etsy.
Penzey’s Spices Gift Box – Penzey’s is a brand known for their social consciousness as well as their delicious spices. Grab one of their gift boxes and help the home chef in your life level up their likely stale spice rack.

Anova Sous Vide – I’ll be honest and admit that I don’t know exactly how a sous vide works, but people swear by the tenderness of the meat they cook.
Measuring cups and spoons – I have several sets of measuring cups, but these simple metal ones are my favorites by far.
Knife Set for Kids – I know they that children should learn to use real knives safely, but I am just too big of a chicken to put the super sharp knives into my kids’ hands. This set has a ton of great reviews and would be great for passing on kitchen skills to the next generation.
Splurge Worthy Gifts for the Kitchen
Le Creuset Dutch Oven – Okay, this is definitely a splurge item, but also such a beautiful addition to any kitchen. They come in a ton of fun colors and can be used for several different things from baking bread to searing meat and making soup. Plus, it’s just so pretty!
KitchenAid Stand Mixer – Let’s get all of the splurge items out of the way at once. Also available in so many colors and sizes, this kitchen staple is, dare I say it, A MUST HAVE.
Air Fryer – The hype of the Instant Pot has given way to the Air Fryer. This is an amazing small appliance and every kitchen should have one.
Amazon Echo Dot with Amazon Smart Plug– Not a kitchen item you say? I beg to differ! With the ability to set a timer, read you a recipe and provide the perfect background music for cooking in the kitchen, this would be an amazing tool to have!
Dish Towels – Anthropologie has my favorite selection of decorative dish towels. These wrapped around a set of wooden spoons make a ridiculously easy gift.
Cooking Classes for the Home Chef
Cooking shows are fantastic but can you really learn how to cook in 30 minutes? MasterClass is a fantastic gift to give to someone learning to cook or who wants to level up their kitchen skills. Taught by master chefs like Gordon Ramsey (restaurant recipes at home), Alice Waters (home cooking), Thomas Keller (cooking techniques), Massimo Bottura (Italian), Aaron Franklin (BBQ) over several classes. Highly recommend!
