Go ahead and call me basic because I cannot get enough of the black buffalo check this holiday season. Today we’re sharing what exactly inspired my full blown obsession and where to find a few of our favorite things.
I know buffalo check falls in line with a farmhouse aesthetic and while I would consider my home’s decor to be anything but I still can’t help falling for that black and white plaid. It all started when I saw this Instagram photo from @theoldhouseonmain. She’s always changing out her guest bedroom but it’s the buffalo check pillows and throw that make me want to snuggle down into one of those beds and watch Netflix. Totally not creepy at all, right?
Then, I stumbled across the most gorgeous buffalo check tree skirt at my favorite Home Goods and wanted it so badly but knew that it wouldn’t go with any other Christmas decor we already have. So, I left it but find myself doing a drive by each time I’m in the store to see if another one is there.

Here’s the craziest thing: I cannot find buffalo check wrapping paper ANYWHERE! I usually like to buy my Christmas wrapping paper from Home Goods because I think it’s the best quality for the price and I’ve yet to find a roll in stores. There’s a few websites that sell it but for upwards of $13 a roll and that’s just dumb.
Here’s my favorite buffalo check finds for the holidays!

Basic black and white check table runner from Pottery Barn ($34.50). I would totally dress this up with gorgeous white dishes, buffalo check napkins, vintage-inspired glass ornaments, mercury votives and holly berry garland.
Stockings are so personal. I know we’ve had ours since we were married and I don’t foresee us changing them out anytime soon. But, I guess you can put stockings anywhere, right? Saw these Hearth & Hand by Magnolia stockings ($13.00) in Target today and loved how they would make for great decor. They are padded and probably wouldn’t hold too much, so slap a stocking on it and call it Christmas!
I adore Megan’s enthusiasm when it comes to Christmas. She was looking for holiday sheets today and it was like the heavens opened when I realized I TOO could get holiday sheets! I found these 100% cotton, flannel buffalo check sheet set from Amazon ($55) and I just ordered them!
Speaking of warm blankets, how much do you love this Threshold pillow ($20) and throw ($50) from Target? It’s luxe and beautiful and would look gorgeous draped on a chair or given as a gift.
