Friends, this time of year might be my favorite. I’m talking about summer book time. The summer reading lists are coming out and I am burning up my library holds list, recommending books that my libraries don’t already own, and dreaming of days filled with reading.
In honor of all of those lists, I want to share the books that I’m most looking forward to this summer.
Books to Read in Summer 2018

Sophia of Silicon Valley – Chosen partly for the cover and partly for the woman-kicking-ass-in-a-man’s-world aspect, this one is high on my list.
Us Against You – Beartown sequel!
When Life Gives you Lululemons – The Devil Wears Prada is one of the few books I can read over and over again. I find it soothing like an episode of Friends before bed. Sadly, I did not enjoy the sequel one bit. This is another sequel? Focusing on Emily this time? I’ll give it a chance and am keeping my expectations at the cautiously optimistic level.
The Perfect Couple – Is it summer without a new Elin Hilderbrand? No, no it definitely is not.
All We Ever Wanted – This is another one that I’m holding my breath on because the last Emily Giffin was such a miss for me. That said, I can’t skip over a new book from her, so let’s all say a collective prayer that this is the summer of redemption for our favorite female authors.
The Proposal – Truth: My hold on The Wedding Date hasn’t even come in yet, but the buzz has me already anticipating the newest from Jasmine Guillory.
The Favorite Sister – I will admit to having mixed feelings about Luckiest Girl Alive, and yet apparently I’ve learned nothing from my past mistakes. This one appears to have a different angle that the first and I’m thrilled to leave the Secret! Information! About! Something! Awful! In the Past! genre behind for a bit. Bring it on, Jessica Knoll.
The President is Missing – a book by BILL CLINTON and JAMES PATTERSON? June 4th can not come fast enough!
The Last Time I Lied – I already have Final Girls on my to-be-read list, so I’ll add this one as well. This is the sort of book I need to read in broad daylight by a pool because I’m a big baby and thrillers give me nightmares!
The Summer I Met Jack – A book that is part historical fiction, part gossip, part maybe-pretend biography all centered around the rumored mistress of JFK? Well, well, well we may have a winner.
The Kiss Quotient – What can I say? I like my summer reads light and fluffy.
Share your summer reading wishlists in the comments below! You know that feeling that bringing home a bag full of new clothes brings you? That’s how I feel about putting a ton of books on hold. The possibilities are endless!
