One of my earliest memories of Christmas morning was when Santa had delivered my very own dollhouse. It was a grand, two-story, picture perfect home with brown wood roof shingles, white paint and grey trim. The dollhouse was the home I wanted to live in as a child, filled with cozy furnishings including my favorite dinette set with red and white checkered fabric on the chairs. The house sat in my bedroom on a huge table that had wheels so I could slide behind it and run away with my imaginary family. Today I’m sharing with you the best dollhouses for kids. Updated for 2021.
This time of year makes me feel nostalgic for dollhouses. I still have this very one but it sits in my garage and is in need of some serious TLC. My own daughter has played with it some and we’ve even bought paint to bring it back to life but haven’t invested the time it deserves. I do have a fantasy of one day finding a spot in my home for it – à la Lorelei Gilmore – but I can’t quite figure out if that’s kitsch or creepy.
Where to Buy Dollhouses for Kids

Target sells the Hearth & Hand with Magnolia Wooden Dollhouse. It’s a three-story, wooden dollhouse complete with furniture for $129.99. It’s really stinking cute with it’s green front door and black shutters. If you are in the market at all for a dollhouse, I highly suggest grabbing this before it’s gone.
Pottery Barn Kids has a big selection of dollhouses to choose from. I love the simple White Cottage Dollhouse for $99. The best part about it is how it opens to the back for easy play.
The traditional Glenview Dollhouse another great choice for $199. The doll house features two stories plus an attic space. It is white with black trim and a black door that opens and closes.
The Barrington Dollhouse for $399 is a beautiful gray and white sprawling dollhouse mansion. Made of solid wood and MDF, this dollhouse features 15 windows, 12 bedrooms, a balcony and storage drawer.
I will give it to Pottery Barn for offering a pretty big variety of houses and price ranges to choose from.
