Dollhouses are one of the most timeless, classic toys that kids love to play with. They inspire imaginative play and allow children to create their own stories and scenarios. Whether you’re looking for a dollhouse for your child’s birthday or for the holiday season, there are so many options to choose from. Today I’m sharing with you the best dollhouses for kids. Updated for 2024
Ah, the magic of Christmas morning! My eyes lit up as I saw Santa had left me my very own dollhouse. It was a dreamy two-story home with brown wood shingles, white walls, and sleek grey trim. I couldn’t wait to move in and make it my own! The house was decked out with all the cozy furniture I could imagine, including my favorite dinette set with red and white checkered chairs. The best part? It sat on a table with wheels, so I could sneak behind it and escape into my imaginary world with my pretend family. It was the perfect start to a magical day!
As the season changes, I can’t help but feel nostalgic for my childhood dollhouse. Although I still have it, it’s currently in the garage and needs some serious restoration. My daughter has even played with it a few times, and we’ve bought paint to bring it back to life, but we haven’t devoted the time it deserves. I often dream of finding a place for it in my home, just like Lorelei Gilmore, but I’m not sure if it would be considered kitschy or creepy.

Where to Buy Dollhouses
The first thing to consider when choosing a dollhouse is the age of the child. Some dollhouses are designed for younger children and have larger pieces, while others are more intricate and detailed, making them better suited for older kids. You’ll also want to think about the size of the dollhouse and where it will be played with. If you have limited space, you may want to opt for a smaller dollhouse that can be easily stored away.
Target sells the Hearth & Hand with Magnolia Wooden Dollhouse (pictured above). It’s a three-story, wooden dollhouse complete with furniture for $129.99. It’s really charming with its green front door and black shutters. *This appears to be out of stock and may have been discontinued but the line has some other options.
