We moved into our house six years ago, and in many ways the floor plan was perfect for our family. We have a small office space off of the kitchen that was one of my favorite features, and for several years that was my workspace. Slowly but surely that space has been taken over by my kids and my husband, and I work from anywhere I can stash my laptop. This is fine, and it works, but it’s not ideal. I have been talking about wanting my own desk space, with my own stuff that doesn’t get taken over by school permission slips and stacks of paper to grade for a long time now and it’s finally happening.
We’re picking up a few new pieces of furniture this weekend and one of them is my new desk. I’ve already picked up a cute chair – nothing like the ugly, rolling, fake leather, industrial office monstrosity in our other workspace. Next up, I need cute desk accessories! We partnered with Uncommon Goods for this post and our search for the perfect items to dress up a desk. We love Uncommon Good, because in addition to making fun and unique gifts, they’re all about moving towards being environmentally friendly and socially responsible, which is something this world could use a little bit more of.
Read on for a few things I think would gussy up anyone’s workspace.
Best Desk Accessories
Shattered Glass Ceiling Paperweight – I think this one speaks for itself, right friends? I think this would make a great gift to some of the ladies in your life. If you’re looking for some more great gifts for women, Uncommon Goods has you covered there as well!
Smartphone Magnifier – Pop your phone into this little cardboard TV and double your screen size. I like having YouTube videos running in the background while I do things that don’t require much attention. My notoriously hard to shop for brother might even like this (and he works for my dad, so he could probably use a little workday distraction. If you need more gift ideas for men, you can find them here!
Habit Rabbit – These little cuties are designed to help act as a reminder for certain daily habits. I happen to think they’re cute and whimsical and just what your desk needs.
iPhone Charger Sticker Faces – Want to keep someone from snagging your charger, or just make yours a little cuter? Grab these guys and personalize all of those white cords you’ve got in every drawer.
Ceramic Greek Coffee Cup – When we were in New York, one of Wendy’s goals was to have a coffee from a blue cap. Sadly, we never made this a reality, but she could have one every single day with this cutie!
Mason Jar Speaker Amplifier – If it has to sit on your desk, it might as well be cute is basically the theme of the day. That’s why I think this mason jar speaker fits the bill perfectly. Take your phone speaker to the next level with this guy.
Color Changing Cinema Light Box – Let’s be honest, I just like this because it’s fun. That’s allowed.
Reclaimed Tin and Wood Magnetic Frame – Tack up a recent photo or a note or your to-do list. Heck, put up all three! And yes, it comes with those adorable button magnets.
Homesick Candles – Light one of these candles to remind you of your hometown or your favorite place. There are 15 spots to choose from, and even though I’ve never been to Georgia, I’m tempted to order one for the scent profile alone. This could be a great gift to a friend who is moving away and we love that it can be personalized to their location. Want more personalized gifts? Look no further than this great collection of personalized wedding gifts (although they could be for a ton of other occasions.)
Yarn Unicorn Kit – Instead of doodling during a conference call, put your hands to work with these yarn unicorn kits!
