Balboa Island in Newport Beach holds a special place in my heart. Whenever I visit, it feels like a happy escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Last summer, my family and I rented a vacation home there. To make the trip even more memorable, I created a fun Balboa Island Scavenger Hunt for my teenager daughter and her friends to enjoy. They had a blast exploring the island and completing the challenges I had set up for them.

Important Safety Reminders
It’s important to remember that you should always abide by any rules set forth by any business located on or near Balboa Island. Always ask permission when necessary. Whenever in doubt, it’s always better to ask for permission or clarification than to assume that you know the right thing to do.
Stay safe, make good decisions, and always take others into consideration.
Balboa Island Scavenger Hunt Printable
This scavenger hunt was created to find specific items or areas on and adjacent to the island. It’s not only for older kids, but for families and adults too.
You could even use it as a team building event and celebrate afterwards at The Village Inn. Some clues can be very difficult and will take some internet sleuthing via your smartphone or you’re just going to have to talk to the locals or businesses to find your answers.

The Balboa Island scavenger hunt is best played as a photo challenge. You can break into teams and take photos to prove you found the answer to the clue. For my daughter, she and her friends worked together snapping photos as they worked their way through the 16 clues.
Is This Scavenger Hunt on Balboa Peninsula?
The scavenger hunt is specific to the Island with a few exceptions. Some clues can be located at the Balboa Fun Zone which technically is located at the Balboa Peninsula but can be accessed by a short ferry ride across the bay.
