Can you believe it’s officially fall?
We’ve been pinning a million things on our Fall Fun Pinterest board and you can bet come October 1st we’ll be wearing boots and raking leaves. Who cares if it’s still 90 degrees here in Southern California!
Here’s 31 things to do this October:
October 1: Meet someone at Starbucks for a PSL. Or, invite some girlfriends over and whip up this homemade Crock Pot Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe.
October 2: Decorate your door with festive fall wreath. I’m always torn between fall and Halloween decor so I usually put up a fall-inspired wreath up until the week before Halloween and then swap it out until November 1st. I love this easy DIY Yarn and Felt wreath (Megan made this one!).
October 3: Go apple picking. Megan’s family does this every year and I’ve never been. Maybe she’ll invite us this time around. Find an apple orchard near you.
October 4: Invite the neighbor kids and host an outdoor movie night! Wondering what to show? Here’s a great list of family-friendly Halloween movies.
October 5: Start packing up a Boo Bucket for friends and neighbors. Here’s a quick video we made on what to include in a Boo Bucket. Don’t forget to add the Boo sign (free printable)!
October 8: Fall is for baking, isn’t it? These are crowd pleasers: Pumpkin Spiced Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Snickerdoodles, Cranberry Orange Shortbread, Vanilla Chai Shortbread, Chewy Ginger or Apple Oatmeal (with all your apple picking!).
October 10: Time to stash your summer nail colors for a darker one. My go-to shades for fall are from the OPI Infinite Shine2 line in Get Rydofthym Blues and Don’t Provoke the Plum. Megan likes Essie’s Merino Cool.
October 11: Don’t forget to bump up the shade of your lips this season, too. I’m loving these lipsticks from Bite Beauty. For gloss, check out NYX Butter Gloss. This is an all time drug store favorite season after season.
October 12: Find a local Oktoberfest. I’ve never been but I like beer, sausage and pretzels so it sounds like a win to me. Here’s a list of Oktoberfest events near Los Angeles.
October 13: Hot weather be damned, dig those boots out of the closet. It’s time to replace my favorite tall boots and I’ve been eyeing these ones with the outside gold zipper from Trotters. Come to mama. Megan’s been looking for the perfect bootie. I want her to get these taupe suede booties from Splendid.
October 14: Find yourself a Halloween costume! Megan says she wants to dress up like this coffee cup available from Target. I approve.
October 15: Stock up on Halloween candy. Yes, two weeks early! See what your favorite Halloween candy says about you. Team Chocolate, all the way.
October 17: I swore I wouldn’t buy candles this year and where did I find myself last week? Yep, Bath & Body Works. But, I bought one of those wall plug-ins, not a candle. Except, Target got me with Flannel Blanket and Autumn Harvest.
October 18: Watch a scary movie. Check out the 13 Nights of Halloween schedule from Freeform or just rent the original Halloween.
October 20: I need to wear something festive for Halloween. There are so many funny ones out there but I need one that’s appropriate for school pick up. This Boo shirt is simple and adorable!
October 21: I love opening my fall and Halloween boxes to find all the kids books we re-read year after year. Here’s a great list of fall books you should be reading with your kids.
October 22: I love a good football game but would rather stay home and watch it from the comfort of my living room. Here’s a fun football themed popcorn snack that you can customize for your favorite team.
October 23: This is when I pull out all the Halloween decor. I love this idea of spray painting plastic pumpkins and using them as a planter. Give me all the gold paint!
October 25: My daughter is making lollipop ghosts for her soccer team. I love how easy they are and I can let her do it on her own.
October 26: I think crafts mades with leaves are so pretty. It’s probably because we get very little change in the leaves here in So Cal so bringing them into our home makes it feel like the season. I love all five of these autumn craft ideas featuring leaves!
October 28: Thanksgiving is only three weeks away now. Are you hosting? Check out this guide on how much turkey you’ll need to feed a crowd.
October 29: Get to carving those pumpkins! Here’s a great tip sheet on carving pumpkins. Who knew?
October 30: Roast pumpkin seeds. I like them with butter and salt but here’s a couple of other tasty ideas on how to make them.
October 31: Time to Trick or Treat!
Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years! Where did 2016 go?
