Freeform just released their 31 Nights of Halloween schedule and here are the highlights.
I love watching scary movies but my family are a bunch of wimps. They flat out refuse to watch any type of horror movie with me. Who doesn’t love cozying up on the couch for a good thrill? This is why I look forward to Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween schedule because the line up is what I call scary-light. I can get the taste of a good Halloween movie without my husband and daughter turning on all the lights when they go upstairs. Here are the highlights of the 2019 31 Nights of Halloween schedule from Freeform.

When is Hocus Pocus on this October?
When is Hocus Pocus not on is the real question. It seems this 16-year-old fantasy/horror movie starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy is all over 2019 pop culture. I mean, I did buy this Lizzo/Hocus Pocus mashup t-shirt for the Halloween season for a reason. Good thing is Hocus Pocus will air nine times on Freeform throughout October and all day long on October 31st.
What’s the Scariest Movie on the 13 Nights of Halloween Schedule?
Hands down the scariest movies on the 13 Nights of Halloween schedule is definitely the Scream 1-3. Scream is a classic and I cannot wait to watch it with my daughter this year! The first three Scream movies air on Saturday, October 12th for the Freeform Saturday Scream-A-Thon. Guess what we’re doing that night! The Scream movies will air again on October 28th.

New Halloween Movies on Freeform
Freeform will premiere several new movies during 31 Nights of Halloween. These aren’t technically new but new to Freeform. If you’re a Simpsons fan, you’ve probably already seen The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror-Thon. This is the first time it’s appeared on Freeform. Also premiering is 2015’s Goosebumps and Scream 1-3.

Not So Scary Halloween Movies during 31 Nights of Halloween
There are several non-scary movies scheduled during the 31 Nights of Halloween. Highlights include 1991’s Addams Family, Hotel Transylvania, the original Ghostbusters (by the way, Ghostbusters is a little naughtier than you’ll remember but I imagine Freeform will cut the one questionable sexy scene), The Nightmare Before Christmas, 2002’s Scooby-Doo and Disney-Pixar’s Monster’s Inc.
Halloween Movies that Make You Go Hmmm
Megan and I debate a lot about what makes a Halloween movie. The big one we argue about is ET: the Extra-Terrestrial. Weigh in down below in the comments, would you? There is one movie on the 13 Nights of Halloween line up that seems real off and it’s Iron Man. It’s a great movie but is it a Halloween movie?
There is some criticism that Freeform cut a lot of family favorites from the 2019 31 Nights of Halloween line up. Halloweentown, Casper, and Beetlejuice are the movies most are upset to see not on the schedule. We’ve linked to these and a few others you can get on DVD. Maybe their not on Freeform’s Halloween schedule this year but still definitely worth watch.
