What is the Target Date Night Challenge?
There are so many variations on Target date night challenges
The Classic Challenge:
- Categories: This is the most popular version. Write down a list of categories like “their favorite snack,” “something in their favorite color,” or “something that reminds you of them.” Split up in Target, find an item for each category, and meet back to reveal your picks. Award points for guessing each other’s choices correctly. Try this list:

Thematic Twists:

- Seasonal Challenge: Adapt the challenge to the current season. For spring, look for items for a picnic basket or a day at the park. Winter could be cozy movie night essentials or ingredients for a hot cocoa bar.
Challenge with a Twist:
- Budget Challenge: Set a spending limit and see who can find the most thoughtful or creative gifts within that budget.
- Photo Challenge: Take goofy pictures of yourselves with random items in Target. Most creative or funniest photo wins!
Bonus Round:
- For the Foodies: Blindfolded taste test in the grocery section. Pick out a few surprise treats and have your partner guess what they are.
- DIY Challenge: Grab some craft supplies and challenge yourselves to create something together in a set time limit. It could be a funny portrait, a piece of jewelry, or anything your imagination comes up with.

- The Scavenger Hunt Challenge: Create a scavenger hunt list for each other, sending them on a quest through different Target sections to find specific items (think “the softest blanket” or “the funniest greeting card”).
Romantic and Flirty Challenges:
- The Compliment Challenge: Write a sweet or funny compliment on a sticky note and place it on random items throughout the store for your partner to find.
- The Love Language Challenge: Each pick an item in Target that represents one of the 5 Love Languages (words of affirmation, acts of service, gifts, quality time, physical touch). Explain why you picked your item and how it reflects your love language.
Bonus: Charity Challenge
- The Giving Challenge: Pick a section of Target (toys, school supplies, canned goods) and each select one item to donate to charity. Discuss why you picked that particular item.

A Target Challenge with a Twist
Target has everything one will ever need. You go for dog food and you leave with $30 worth of trinkets from the Dollar Spot, a new pair of sandals, some workout pants, a book, a birthday gift, card and wrapping paper, shampoo, and a bag of M&M’s. But try going with a very limited budget and the permission to buy anything you want.
In this challenge give yourself a budget, say $20, and see what you come out with!
