You know how much Megan loves an advent calendar, so of course she couldn’t pass up the 12 Days of Beauty Faves Advent calendar from Target earlier this month. Beauty advent calendars have become quite the thing over the last few years. Benefit, The Body Shop, bare Minerals, Sephora all have advent calendars stuffed with makeup and skin care favorites. But, holy moly! They cost anywhere from $25 – $85 and sometimes are in high demand that you can’t even get one.
The 12 Days of Beauty Faves from Target cost $25 (with a retail value of $65). For the sake of video, we tore into each of the twelve days to see what Target could do with their version of the beauty advent calendar. Well, ladies. There were some hits and some misses.
Day 1: NYX Xtreme Shine lip cream
Day 2: EcoTools Angles Kabuki Brush
Day 3: Sinful Colors nail polish
Day 4: Nexus Comb Thru Finishing Mist
Day 5: Tini Bath Soap Bomb
Day 6: Pacifica Kale Detox Deep Cleaning Face Wash
Day 7: Burt’s Bees Lip Balm
Day 8: Mayfair Soap Foundry Body Cream in Sea Lily Jasmine
Day 9: Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic
Day 10: Acure Day Cream
Day 11: Umberto Dry Lifting Powder
Day 12: Lineage Sleeping Mask
Megan and I both thought the NYX lip gloss was a win and were excited it was the first item. Way to start big, Target. And while she was a fan of the Mayfair hand cream and mini bath bombs, I thought the hair powder and glow tonic were the highlights. Everything else wasn’t worth writing to Santa about. Plus, many of these brands and same products have been sent in Target’s monthly beauty box and we’ve both received them several times over since we regularly order the monthly box.
Do we think the 12 Days of Beauty Faves was fun? Yes. There is something extremely satisfying to getting a little sweet present everyday. But overall, we give this advent calendar three out of five candy canes.
Did you pick your own Target 12 Days of Beauty Faves advent calendar? Some are available in store and it looks like they still have them online if you want to check it out for yourself.
