Things Families Do Together At Home
We are definitely in the season of life where my teenager prefers to hang out in her bedroom. I don’t blame her. I vividly remember my own teenage years with my music, magazines, and my own phone line. Truthfully though, I wish my parents would have encouraged me to emerge more often for a family movie or a game of Scrabble.
These ideas are not groundbreaking. But maybe you need a gentle reminder that there are other things to do than everyone going to their own corners of the house.
- Plan a regular family game night
- Dedicate one night per week as game night.
- Change up your game selection each week. See our picks for the best board games for families.
- You can also invite other family or friends to partake in game night.
- Cook meals together as a family
- Meal prep and cooking doesn’t have to always fall on one person.
- Select who will do what after choosing what to make as a family.
- Take turns choosing and watching movies as a family
- Create a big list of movies you and your family would like to watch, draw from a hat to see what movie is selected for movie night.
- Set a vibe: turn down the lights, make popcorn, buy some special movie theater candy.
